In 2005, when Jeff, Justin and Keith began playing together, no one knew what was in store for the trio from Burlington, VT. Jeff and Justin had been playing drums and bass together in different bands for years but found a musical cohesion with Keith on guitar that they had not experienced before. When Heroes Die was formed and began writing. After a while When Heroes Die recorded a six-song demo with Mark Lucia at Madcow Productions and began booking shows to get the word out.
The band found its place in the Burlington club scene and developed a loyal following with their melodic and aggressive sound. When Heroes Die began to book with fellow Burlington rock acts Stolid, Nowhere Found and others. After establishing themselves with several local shows, When Heroes Die earned the opportunity to open for "Sick Puppies" and "Dropping Daylight" in March, 2008 as they made a tour stop at Higher Ground Burlington, VT. In October, 2009 When Heroes Die went back in the studio to record 'Dominor Oculus', an eight song CD and played several regional shows in support. In the winter of 2010 the band took a break to write and redefine their sound, they had been slowly adding an electronic element to their sound and took the break as an opportunity to dig deeper. After several months and looking at their new material When Heroes Die decided it was time to reinvent their style with the vocals as well. The search for a new singer began but When Heroes Die couldn't put their collective fingers on what they were really looking for. Then came the moment when Jeff, by luck or divine intervention heard a recording of Rachel singing an original called "Just Cold Enough." After forwarding the track to Justin and Keith it was unanimous that Rachel may be the missing piece they had been looking for. Things were set in motion and in May, 2011 Rachel came to a rehearsal to see if things fit. Within minutes When Heroes Die had found their new vocalist and the new motivation that had been missing for the good part of a year. With the addition of Rachel at vocals, When Heroes Die began writing and plan on recording "Just cold enough" and "Guilty" in the near future to debut the new lineup.
